Principal's Message

Dear Phillips Families,

Happy first weeks of Fall! By this time of year, students are well aware of routines and procedures at school and we have hit our stride for a great year of teaching and learning. This year in particular, we are making great progress in the implementation of our STEM program and celebrating the addition of the ART and Engineering and Global Investigations specials classes.

As we prepare for fall conferences, I want to share an exciting new plan that we have developed to make the process more student-centered and goal focused. This year, parents are invited to attend a "Celebration of Learning" on Tuesday, November 4th from 6:00-7:00 pm. At this time, students will walk parents through their classrooms and share what they have been working on so far this year, focusing on their achievements (what they are proud of) and goals for continuing their advancement and learning. Parents will pick up report cards and have an opportunity to meet with the classroom teachers who will be on hand to help with any questions. There will be an additional conference to follow for students who need a little more support and require some focused planning between the teacher, parent and student. Of course, anyone who would like to schedule an additional conference may do so by contacting the teacher. This is a new process and one that we think will be positive for parents and students. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact me here in the office or your child's teacher for additional information.

Thank you,

Mr. Manning
